hello
“Architectural photography needs sincere observation of a space that was occupied to build and then inhabit. The art then is to extract the processes that the building is associated with” says Gagan Kapoor of his recent projects ‘How to Turn a Corner’ and ‘Skin Stories’.
Identifying the processes of creation, of use and interval covers the social aspect. This captures the vision of the architects, designers and constructers, and represents the building as more than an object in a photograph.
Gagan Kapoor is an architecture photographer based in London & Ahmedabad, working for architects, designers, developers and museums.
He has particular interest in photographing contemporary educational, residential buildings and museums, and focuses on highlighting the intangible aspects of material, texture and lighting. He also photographs residential, hotel and restaurant interiors that highlight the distinctiveness of the designers’ work.
Gagan : I self trained for a decade to observe a space clearly before I photograph, then curate a post production process.
